Sunny Deol's war film seems to be the most anticipated release of the year, with the initial advance booking figures indicating a healthy demand for the movie, well in advance of the film's release.
According to the Sacnilk reports, Sunny Deol's movie has comfortably surpassed the advance booking of ‘Dhurandhar’ starring Ranveer Singh, mainly due to strong block seat bookings and a healthy flow of show tickets.
Trade analysts believe that the momentum established so far puts the movie on a favourable footing regarding a massive opening.

According to data tracked by Sacnilk, this Hindi movie has been able to clock an advance booking revenue of around ₹3.4 crores through general bookings for day one in India. This amount has been achieved through the sale of more than 1.05 lakh tickets in over 9,200 shows in Hindi 2D.
What helps the numbers greatly, though, is the inclusion of block seat bookings. When the block seat bookings are included, the collective advance collection of bookings swings to ₹6.6 crore.

‘Border 2’ has already sold 105,000+ tickets across the country in advance, with the average ticket price ranging around ₹260. Although the initial rush witnessed in the first phase of ticket sales has somewhat stabilised, trade analysts have noted that this is only to be expected in big-ticket movies, especially those with mass appeal.

Metro cities and traditional strongholds for action dramas are leading the charge. Delhi NCR has emerged as the biggest contributor so far, with advance bookings (including block seats) crossing ₹1.4 crore. Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Rajasthan have also posted encouraging numbers, reflecting Sunny Deol’s enduring popularity in North India.
Cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Chandigarh, Jaipur, and Lucknow are seeing faster filling shows, while smaller centres are expected to pick up closer to release day.
When compared to Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar,’ it is evident that the advance booking figures are in favour of Sunny Deol’s film. Although ‘Dhurandhar’ turned out to be a historic success at the box office, its opening was not spectacular, and it picked up only after positive word-of-mouth.
However, ‘Border 2’ seems to be on course for a much bigger opening day.

As per a report, trade experts estimate an opening day collection in the range of ₹35–40 crore, provided the current trend holds. Some projections even place the film’s potential lifetime business at around ₹700 crore, though these figures remain speculative at this stage.
The film features Sunny Deol alongside Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty, Diljit Dosanjh, Mona Singh, Medha Rana, Ananya Singh and Sonam Bajwa, and is slated for a theatrical release on 23 January, 2026.
