After four years, Nushrratt Bharuccha is back with the sequel to her horror film, Chhorii. Titled Chhorii 2, the upcoming movie will be released on April 11, 2025, on Amazon Prime Video. Ahead of its OTT premiere, makers dropped its first teaser on social media. Lasting 1:28 minutes, the promotional clip does give you the shivers with chilling visuals and background music. Chhorii 2: What Does The Teaser Show?
The Chhorii 2 teaser starts with a scared little girl named Ishani searching for her mother, Sakshi, in a village. The familiar well and sugarcane field from Chhorii appears right in the first frame as we see Ishani getting dragged away by a spirit.
Sakshi (Bharuccha) jumps right in to search for her and is led to that setting she is aware of. Here, she encounters a ghostly figure (Soha Ali Khan) who thunderously claims that Ishani is now hers and asks Sakshi to forget her. The next frame leads us to the inside of a well where a bruised Sakshi is surrounded by several spirits and this scene in particular deserves mention for its masterclass horror quotient. Eventual sequences establish that Chhorii 2 will up the ante from the 2021 movie and might be one of Bharuccha's remarkable performances.
Ali Khan as Daasi, the shape-shifting priestess, was a delight to watch in the teaser. But, apprehensions remain of her fitting the mould of a rural woman, given her urban vibe and screen presence.
Despite all these, it will be enchanting to watch the duel between Daasi and Sakshi, as the latter traverses the mage of her haunting past in a desperate attempt to save her daughter.
Chhorii 2: Will Sakshi Be Able to Save Ishani?
The gist of Chhorii 2 reads:
"Seven years after the events of Chhorii, Sakshi lives peacefully with her daughter, Ishani, far from the horrors of their past. Ishani suffers from a rare condition that forces her to live in darkness, as sunlight could kill her. Despite this, Ishani remains a brave and happy child. One night, a ghostly figure appears in Ishani’s room, luring her away like a possessed doll. When Sakshi returns home, Ishani is gone.
Desperate, she turns to Inspector Samar for help. Their search leads them back to the village she swore never to revisit. In the maze-like sugarcane fields, Sakshi and Samar face ancient terrors. Separated by a sinister force, Sakshi encounters someone she thought was dead, only to be struck down and left unconscious. She awakens in an underground cave where the villagers worship a malevolent deity. Daasi, the shape-shifting priestess, announces Ishani’s sacrifice in three days. Sakshi must stop the ritual and save her daughter before it's too late."
Interestingly, Ali Khan returns to films after two years. Her last release was the forgettable 69. Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster 3 in 2018 remains her last significant movie.
Directed by Vishal Furia, Chhorii 2 hits Prime Video on April 11, 2025.
