After the shocking demise of legendary actor, Rishi Kapoor on Thursday morning at around 8.45 am his family held a prayer meet for him in Mumbai on Saturday. A picture featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor from the meet with a garlanded photo of Rishi Kapoor is going viral on social media platforms. While Mrs Kapoor is clad in a white kurta with a dupatta, her son Ranbir is donning a saffron turban and red tilak on his forehead.
Rishi Kapoor’s daughter Riddhima was not seen in the snaps from the prayer ceremony. But, she immersed her father’s ashes in the Banganga tank on Sunday. Ranbir Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and director Ayan Mukerjee were also present during the ceremony. A video of them performing the rituals was shared on social media platforms. Talking about the same to one of leading news agencies, Rishi Kapoor’s elder brother, Randhir Kapoor said that a prayer meeting for the actor was held on Saturday. "We did a prayer meeting yesterday. Today we immersed his ashes in Banganga as we haven't received permission from the authorities to go to Haridwar.”
Riddhima, who reached Mumbai on Saturday evening from New Delhi along with her daughter Samara Sahni couldn't attend her father’s last rites due to the ongoing lockdown. Riddhima was only allowed to leave the national capital for Mumbai on a car on May 1 after she sought special permission from Delhi Police and got a pass. Taking to her Instagram stories, the daughter of one of the finest actors of the film industry shared a post saying, “Driving home Ma. Enroute Mumbai.”

Since the 39-year-old fashion designer couldn't be physically available at the last rites that were held at Chandanwadi Crematorium, Alia Bhatt, who is reportedly dating Ranbir helped her see Ranbir and the family performing the last rites over a video call. In the photos from the cremation ceremony, Alia can be seen teary-eyed while recording everything from her smartphone
Rishi Kapoor’s last rites took place at Mumbai's Chandanwadi Crematorium on Thursday. Given the current situation, only a few people, including his family and friends were present. The list includes the late actor's wife Neetu Kapoor, sister Rima Jain, Manoj Jain, Armaan Jain, Aadar Jain, Anisha Jain, Rajeev Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan, Alia Bhatt, Dr Tarang, Ayan Mukerji, Jai Ram, Rohit Dhawan, and Rahul Rawail.
Rishi, who is considered one of the finest actors of Indian cinema passed away at the age of 67. He was admitted to the H N Reliance hospital, where he took his last breath. The actor, who was known for his great acting skills, died after a two-year-long battle with leukemia. The news of his death was confirmed by his brother Randhir Kapoor. “He is no more. He has passed away," he told one of the news wires.
