Vaa Vaathiyaar Box Office Collection Day 2: Karthi’s Fantasy Action Comedy Opens Slow, Collects ₹1 Crore

Karthi’s much-anticipated Tamil fantasy action comedy hit theatres on January 14, 2026, and opened to largely positive word of mouth from both critics and audiences. While the film has been appreciated for its inventive ideas and spirited performances, this praise has not fully translated into strong box office numbers. After a modest opening, ‘Vaa Vaathiyaar’ continued its slow run on Day 2, adding around ₹1 crore to its tally.

On its second day, the film earned approximately ₹1 crore at the Indian box office. Compared to expectations surrounding a Karthi release, the growth was limited, indicating that the film is relying more on steady word of mouth than on initial hype.

After two days in theatres, ‘Vaa Vaathiyaar’ has collected an estimated ₹1.53 crore net in India. While these numbers are not alarming for a mid-budget film, they do suggest that the film needs a significant jump over the weekend to establish a stable run.

The coming days will be crucial, particularly as family audiences and fans of Karthi could potentially turn up in larger numbers if positive audience feedback continues to circulate.

Vaa Vaathiyaar Story and Cast

Set in the fictional village of Maasila, the film follows a police officer whose worldview is shaped by the ideals of legendary actor and politician MG Ramachandran. Karthi plays a morally conflicted cop raised by his grandfather, portrayed by Rajkiran. The narrative takes a sharp turn when he becomes entangled in a high-stakes case involving a powerful businessman and political figures.

The ensemble cast includes Krithi Shetty, Sathyaraj, Anandaraj, Shilpa Manjunath, and Karunakaran, all of whom add weight to the film.
