This historical drama is a powerful portrayal of Tamil Nadu in the 1960s. During the climax of this film, we get to see a clash between Chezhiyan (Sivakarthikeyan) and the ruthless officer Thirunaadan (Ravi Mohan). Student protesters, led by Chinnadurai (Atharvaa) and Ratnamala (Sreeleela), launch a massive ‘rail-roko’ (stop the trains) demonstration at the Pollachi railway station.
Next, we see Officer Thirunaadan, ready to take revenge for his severed finger. He unleashes the police on the protesters, causing violence and chaos. Between all this panic and chaos, Chezhiyan, who had abandoned the revolution, is forced out of his quiet life to protect his brother and the movement. In a tense showdown, we see Chezhiyan overpowering Thirunaadan, but he chooses not to kill the officer. His act was a way of exposing the state's brutality to the public eye.

We get to see that Ratnamala uses her radio connections and political background to ensure the national government, led by Indira Gandhi, hears the protesters’ demands. The film concludes with the government reaffirming Nehru's promise that ‘Hindi’ will not be imposed as the sole official language.
