Emergency Movie Certification

Emergency has received a UA certification from the CBFC after navigating various challenges. The board requested certain cuts and disclaimers for specific scenes before granting approval. In August 2024, Kangana expressed her determination to address these issues, emphasising the importance of artistic freedom and historical accuracy in storytelling.

Despite these hurdles, Kangana remains committed to presenting this critical chapter of Indian history. She previously alleged that delays in obtaining CBFC clearance were linked to threats made against board members.

Controversies Surrounding the Film

The film has faced significant backlash from various Sikh organisations across India, including groups in Punjab and New Delhi. These organisations have demanded a ban on Emergency, claiming it misrepresents their community and distorts historical facts. They have reached out to both the CBFC and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to prevent the film's screening.

Produced by Zee Studios alongside Manikarnika Films and Renu Pitti, Emergency features a musical score by Sanchit Balhara and G V Prakash Kumar, with dialogues penned by acclaimed writer Ritesh Shah.

With its release set for January 17, 2025, Emergency stands as a testament to Kangana Ranaut's dedication to exploring complex narratives within Indian history.
