The separation news followed a statement from Saira Banu's lawyer, Vandana Shah, issued on November 19, 2024. Shah revealed that the decision to separate came after a period of significant emotional strain in their relationship. The statement emphasised that despite their deep love for one another, the couple's emotional challenges had led to an "insurmountable gap" between them.

According to the official statement, Saira made this decision "out of pain and agony," recognising that they could not overcome the difficulties that had grown over time.
