A WhatsApp message outlining the demands of a PhD and gold medalist guy for marriage is doing rounds on the internet all for the wrong reasons. Reportedly the groom asked his prospective medico bride for a BMI under 24, the ability to handle all household chores independently, consider her job optional and whatnot, reflecting the patriarchal mindset of the society. The post, which gained nearly 2.4 lakh views and over 1,800 likes, has received a lot of mixed reactions. While some have called out the man and questioned his mindset, few others have supported him claiming he is clear about his expectations.

The WhatsApp message showcasing the pathetic demands of the PhD groom from his prospective wife has caused outrage on the internet. “About bride- should be graceful, competent and smart enough to handle her home and family matters. Should be vibrant and energetic to bring colour, variety and liveliness through her physical contribution to the family's lifestyle including food, clothing and lifestyle. Ideal if she is within 24 BMI,” reads the first few lines of the list.

While most of the people called out the groom’s orthodox mindset, others came in support of him, once again showcasing the harsh reality of the patriarchal society. The comment section saw a series of mixed reactions. “BMI is also mentioned, which is interesting. I would really like to see this groom's photo somehow and see where he stands,” wrote an X user. “They are entitled to have their preferences the way a bride's family would be having (6 figure salary, stay separate from parents after marriage, etc),” shared another.

A third user commented, “Seems very unrealistic and archaic. I don’t think any woman smart enough for his requirements would ever agree to this. Bro has to spend his life being single if he doesn’t change his mindset.”
