Hansika Motwani And Sohael Khaturiya Divorce: Hansika Motwani is back in the headlines, but this time it’s about her personal life. According to recent reports, the actor and her businessman husband Sohael Khaturiya have reportedly ended their marriage after four years together. The couple, who tied the knot in a grand ceremony in December 2022, are said to have taken the decision after living separately for some time.

While neither Hansika nor Sohael has publicly spoken about the situation in detail, reports suggest that the divorce was filed with mutual consent. The news has surprised many fans who followed their love story closely, especially after their lavish wedding became widely talked about across social media.

Hansika Motwani And Sohael Khaturiya Officially Divorced

In an exclusive statement to NDTV, Hansika Motwani's lawyer Adnan Shaikh said, “Our client, Hansika Motwani, has been granted a decree of divorce by the Hon'ble Family Court Bandra. The divorce was granted by mutual consent after both parties acknowledged that the marriage had irretrievably broken down.” He further shared, “Our client had initially approached her now former husband seeking an amicable separation, which ultimately culminated in the present decree. The respondent filed his affidavit before the court today confirming his consent to the dissolution of the marriage.”

Sohael Khaturiya proposed to Hansika Motwani in Paris in a romantic setting near the Eiffel Tower in November 2022, which quickly went viral on social media. The couple got married on December 4, 2022 at the Mundota Fort and Palace in Jaipur in a lavish ceremony attended by family and close friends. Reports indicate that Hansika Motwani and Sohael Khaturiya have officially parted ways after four years of marriage. The divorce has been granted by a family court in Mumbai following a mutual agreement between the couple.

The couple had reportedly been living separately since 2024 after facing differences in their relationship. Though they tried to keep their personal matters private, rumours of trouble had been circulating for months before the divorce reports surfaced.

However, both Hansika and Sohael remained largely silent about their relationship issues until the recent reports of their separation.

Hansika Motwani Refuses Stridhan: What Is Stridhan? 

Hansika Motwani's lawyer stated that she didn't seek any alimony or Stridhan from her ex-husband (Sohael Khaturiya). Lawyer Adnan Shaikh stated, “It is pertinent to clarify that our client has made no claims whatsoever for alimony or maintenance, as her sole intention was to bring a dignified and peaceful closure to the marriage. The reasons for the breakdown of the relationship were placed before the Hon'ble Court in the petition. Our client now wishes to move forward with her life and professional commitments.”

In an exclusive with HerZindagi, Swaralipi Deb Roy, a Corporate Lawyer & Practising at the Delhi High Court & Supreme Court of India, explained what is Stridhan. Swaralipi Deb Roy said, “Stridhan literally means women’s property, ‘Stri’ means women and ‘dhan’ means property. Stridhan is an absolute property that a woman receives during her lifetime.”

Stridhan (meaning ‘'woman's property’) refers to all assets a woman receives voluntarily at the time of her marriage, as well as before or after it. Under Section 14 of the Hindu Succession Act, 1956, a woman has absolute ownership over her Stridhan. Her husband and in-laws act only as ‘trustees’ and must return it upon demand.

Who Is Sohael Khaturiya? (Who Is Hansika Motwani’s Husband)

Sohael Khaturiya is a Mumbai-based businessman and entrepreneur. He belongs to a well-known business family and has been involved in various ventures including textile and event management.
