1. ‘Raavan’

One of Mani Ratnam’s masterpieces, ‘Raavan’ is a modern-day approach to the ancient Hindu epic Ramayana where Sita is portrayed by Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan is the contemporary Ravana. A critically acclaimed film, the actors have done an impeccable job committing to their roles and Mani Ratnam’s story-telling and delivery have been extraordinary. It is truly a modernised Ramayana without hampering the authenticity of the epic.

2. ‘Ram Setu’

A film where several scientists and scholars embark on a journey to prove the occurrence of Ramayana, ‘Ram Setu’ unravels the mysteries that have submerged under layers of history. The team goes on the hunt for the relevance of Ram Setu which connects India and Sri Lanka. What follows them en route to their destination will surprise you.

3. ‘Adipurush’

The latest film inspired by Ramayana that hit the theatres was Om Raut’s 'Adipurush' starring South Indian superstar Prabhas and Bollywood actress Kriti Sanon. The film was made in an ancient set-up with an effort to stay in touch with the authenticity of the story. However, the dialogues had a modernised approach to entice the young audience.

4. ‘Bahubali Series’

S. S. Rajamouli’s ‘Bahubali series’ takes us through the saga of revenge and benevolence and a story that is strongly inspired by Ramayana. Amanendra Bahubali’s virtue and truth to his dharma and karma remind us of the great warrior, Lord Rama. Simultaneously, the vigour in the female characters of the movie - Sivagami and Devasena - has a strong resemblance with the Ayodhya princess and one of the strongest figures in history - Sita.
