One of the 12 sacred Jyotirlingas, Shree Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga, is the crown jewel of Ujjain. The unique Dakshinmukhi (south-facing) lingam is a global attraction for its Bhasma Aarti. Another major attraction of the temple is the newly constructed Mahakal Lok Mandir, which stretches across 900 meters and features hundreds of murals and statues depicting life and narratives from the Shiva Purana.

Another major attraction of Ujjain is the Harisiddhi Temple, a Shakti Peetha where Sati's elbow is believed to have fallen. The temple is famous for its divine evening aarti involving hundreds of lamps on two 15-foot-high lamps (Deepstambhas), offering a glorifying experience.

The Kaal Bhairav Temple is a 6,000-year-old shrine placed on the banks of the Shipra River. It is a dedicated fierce form of Lord Shiva, the protector deity of the city. This temple is also known for its unique ritual where liquor is offered as part of tantric worship.

One of the oldest and most revered bathing ghats located on the Shipra River is Ram Ghat. It is believed that Lord Rama performed pind-daan for his father here. The famous Kumbh Mela, which carries immense religious significance, is also organised on this ghat. Devotees can experience the mesmerising 'Aarti' held daily at 6-7:00 pm.

Sandipani Ashram is a significant place for those interested in history and ancient scriptures. This well-preserved holy site is believed to be where Lord Krishna, Balram, and Sudama received education from Guru Sandipani.
