The Christmas season has failed to bring much cheer for Varun Dhawan's latest action thriller ‘Baby John,’ as the film struggles to maintain momentum at the box office despite its festive release timing. The official remake of Thalapathy Vijay's Tamil blockbuster ‘Theri’ has shown concerning trends in its initial days of release.

According to Sacnilk's report, ‘Baby John’ earned ₹0.19 crore in India net on its third day of release, till this morning. The film’s box office collection has been lower than anticipated, with its opening day grossing ₹11.25 crore. Although this figure represents a solid start, it falls short when compared to the original Tamil version of the film, ‘Theri’, which opened with ₹13.1 crore back in 2016. On Day 2, ‘Baby John’ collected ₹4.5 crore, a sharp drop from its opening day numbers, suggesting a significant dip in interest.

Directed by Kalees and produced by Atlee, ‘Baby John’ features a strong ensemble cast that includes Varun Dhawan, Keerthy Suresh, Wamiqa Gabbi, Jackie Shroff, and a special cameo by Salman Khan. The film tells the gripping story of a cop who adopts a new identity to protect his daughter but is forced to confront his past when her life is endangered. Released on December 25, Baby John has been marketed as an action-packed thriller aimed at family audiences. Industry sources reveal that ‘Baby John’ was produced with a substantial budget of ₹180 crore (approximately $22 million).
