Anubhav Sinha's latest directorial film ‘Assi’ arrived in cinemas on February 20, 2026, with a powerful premise and a strong ensemble cast. Headlined by Taapsee Pannu, the courtroom drama tackles the sensitive subject of sexual assault and the fight for justice. However, despite its socially relevant theme, the film has struggled to translate audience curiosity into box office momentum.
According to Sacnilk, ‘Assi’ has earned a total of ₹4.22 crore in its first four days at the Indian box office. The numbers suggest a slow start, with limited growth over the opening weekend and a sharp weekday drop.

As per the Sacnilk report, Assi collected ₹1.60 crore on the third Day (first Sunday). The figure remained identical to its second-day earnings, reflecting 0% growth.
While Sunday usually brings a noticeable spike in footfall, the film showed no upward movement. The steady but flat performance indicates restrained word of mouth, with audiences perhaps opting for more commercial entertainers currently running in theatres.
On Day four (first Monday), the collections saw a steep fall. As per Sacnilk's live data estimates (including limited advance figures till 10:00 pm), the film earned approximately ₹0.02 crore on Monday.
The dramatic dip highlights the challenges the film faces during weekdays, especially amid competition and niche appeal. These figures are subject to hourly updates, as Sacnilk continues to revise live data.
Note: These are live figures with limited advance data included and are subject to updates.

Directed by Anubhav Sinha, the film features a strong supporting cast including Revathi, Manoj Pahwa, Seema Pahwa, Kumud Mishra, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Naseeruddin Shah, Kani Kusruti, Vipul Gupta, Sahil Sethi and Satyajit Sharma. Notably, Kani Kusruti essays the role of the sexual assault survivor at the centre of the legal battle.
The story follows a determined lawyer who takes on a high-stakes sexual assault case, navigating intense courtroom confrontations and systemic obstacles. The narrative explores themes of gender justice, institutional bias and the silence that often surrounds such crimes.
At the box office, Assi faces competition from ‘O'Romeo’, starring Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri, as well as ‘Do Deewane Seher Mein’ featuring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Mrunal Thakur.
