Women leaders are climbing the ladder of success and inspiring young girls every day. The year 2022 had many businesswomen making the headlines, influencing the world and making it among the millionaires and billionaires.

Before we ring in 2023, let’s take a look at the women entrepreneurs who wowed us in the past 12 months.

Sheetal Kapoor

In an exclusive interview with HerZindagi, Sheetal Kapoor, Joint Managing Director at SHR Lifestyles Pvt. Ltd. opened up about her journey of starting a business at the age of 40 which currently has a turnover of ₹400 crores. Along with her husband, Sandeep Kapoor, she opened an ethnic wear segment for Indian women in 2010.

Though the journey was not a cakewalk, the couple made it possible in three years by opening 10 stores all around India. They have achieved the milestone of opening 100 stores throughout the country and are currently, working towards opening a total of 500 stores.

Priti Rathi Gupta

Priti Rathi Gupta is the founder of LXME, the first financial platform dedicated to women. She started her career at the age of 17 and believes that every woman must be financially independent. “It is a wonderful thing,” she told us. She added women have depended on the men of the house for so long and still continue to do so.

However, with education and digitisation, things are unfolding in the right direction. Recently, LXME was among 20 Indian startups selected for Google’s women-focused accelerator program.

Masaba Gupta

Masaba Gupta is a renowned fashion designer and actor. Before Masaba Masaba season two landed on Netflix, a social media user commented on this businesswoman’s look.

He said the actor looked bad despite being in the fashion and entertainment industry. Masaba told the troll that it was hard work and discipline that got her where she stood today. Need we say that season two was loved by the audience, and the fashion designer continues to impress us with her collection?

Soma Mandal, Ghazal Alagh & Namita Thapar

Entrepreneurs - Soma Mandal, Ghazal Alagh and Namita Thapar - made India proud after they got featured in the Forbes issue listing of 20 Asian businesswomen. Soman Mandal is the Chairperson of the Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL), Namita Thapar is the Executive Director of Emcure Pharma, and Ghazal Alagh is the co-founder and Chief Innovation Officer of Hansa Consumer.

The three of them are running multi-billion companies. But they made it to the Forbes list because they have helped their business grow in leaps and bounds.

Aakanksha Bhargava

Aakanksha Bhargava is a part of PM Relocations, her family business. In November, she opened up with HerZindagiabout making it big in the male-dominated industry. She said it is mostly women who manage the household and supervise with their cognitive thinking and multi-tasking abilities.Therefore, the mobility sector also requires more women.

Initially, she was called the underdog, but she allowed herself maximum exposure to make it big. “It took 16 years of hard work, passion, perseverance and teamwork to reach the heights,” she added.

Richest Indian Businesswomen

In July, Falguni Nayar and Savitri Jindal made it to the Forbes list of richest businesspeople with their net worths counting in millions. Jindal stood at the 91st position with a net worth of $17.7 billion.

On the other hand, Nayar’s net worth was mentioned as $4.5 billion. She started Nykaa, one of the leading e-commerce beauty brands in India. Other women who were part of the list were, Radha Vembu, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, Anu Aga and Leena Tiwari.
