Sheetal Kapoor: This Woman Built A 400 Cr Business At The Age Of 40

Sheetal Kapoor is a Joint Managing Director at SHR Lifestyles Pvt Ltd. With Shree, she has brought readymade ethnic wear for women. The entrepreneur feels that she is empowering women by enabling them to dress well.

Journey

Married in her 20’s, Sheetal Kapoor dedicated her life to her husband and her family up until the age of 40. After dedicating her life to taking care of her family for 20 years, she felt that she needed to do something for herself.

However, she didn’t come from a business background, but she still had a good hold on the subject.

Business Launch

In the early 2000’s, ecommerce started getting popular. So, Sheetal and Sandeep (who was already in the business of garments) started an ethnic wear segment for Indian women by launching Shree in 2010 under the parent company SHR Lifestyle Pvt Ltd.

However, the journey wasn’t easy for her. From learning the basics of business to learning the basics of technology, it has worked hard to reach the heights of success. Today, the company has a turnover of Rs 40 crore with more than 100 stores in and outside India.

It was not always a cakewalk as they had to start from the bottom to build their brand identity. As they were starting from scratch, it was a big risk to build a store with bricks and walls, therefore, they listed their brand on eBay.

Business started to boom, thus expanding Shree’s reach to other countries in the next five years. Due to the success, Shree’s first offline store was opened in Delhi and just within 3 years, she opened about 10 stores in India.

By 2021, Shree had opened more than 100 stores in India as well as Delhi which is a big milestone, especially in such a short time. Shree was becoming favourite among the customers.

After reaching the milestone of 100 stores, her next target is to open 500 stores in the next three to four years.

Starting from zero to creating a successful business at the age of 40 is truly exceptional. Her story is proof that age is just a number.
