A power breakfast is like fuel to your body to help you kickstart your day the right way. But then, there are that extra five minutes of sleep OR that early morning call with the client OR that food delivery app which shows flat 50 percent off on ordering burgers as soon as you enter your office. Amidst all the hustle, what gets hampered? Yes, it is the breakfast time that you conveniently skip.

Sadly, a lot of my clients skip breakfast intentionally with the reasoning that it will help lose weight. But hey, just wait and listen to me. Skipping breakfast is equal to poor metabolism and a lethargic day ahead.

For The Busy Bees

I understand that you have thousands of emails and work-related calls to cater to. However, choosing a coffee on your way along with those muffins is not the ideal way. This kind of food eating habits devoid you from the essential nutrients, fiber, calcium and proteins. For the people like you, I have a few quick delicious yet nutritious breakfast suggestions. All you need to do is a little preparation the previous night so that you don't have to start from scratch in the morning. Oatmeal jars are super healthy. Combine oats, chia seeds, berries, almond milk, and refrigerate it overnight in a jar and your portable breakfast is ready. You can also freeze fruits like berries and bananas overnight. In the morning, all you need to do is blend these frozen fruits along with milk or soy milk and Greek yogurt.

A colorful, delicious, quick instagrammable breakfast is ready. You can also give a super twist to the regular bowl of fruit salad by adding superfoods such as quinoa.

For The Lazy Bums

Here is a tip that I give to all my clients who are looking to lose weight or are too lazy to cook. Uninstall all the food delivery apps. You will definitely lose a huge amount of calories by just doing that. You can start the drill with simple homemade breakfast options such as avocado toast and eggs, fruit and yogurt parfaits, and even your humble omelette. These dishes don't require too many ingredients or preparations and prove to be much better substituted for any meal you order from outside. Also, there is a golden 15-minute rule I give to my clients which means just wake up 15 minutes earlier than your regular wake up time and see what magic it brings to your life.

Indian Breakfast Options

You would be surprised to know that a lot of celebrities actually prefer Indian breakfast options such as poha, upma, dosa, idli, and uttapam as the first meal of their day. And why not? These Indian meals are extremely delicious and nutritious. You can also create a new recipe from the leftover items from the last meal. Think leftover dal and dal parantha comes to rescue. If your kids don't like veggies, make a wheat base like chapati and fill those veggies like a roll and I bet your kids will love it. If you are looking to shed some weight, you can make these dishes using oats as a key ingredient. Include oats in your idli batter as well as your parantha dough and a healthy twist to your The Indian breakfast dish is set. For a cheat meal try a Nutella dosa instead!

One of my clients recently told me, "Mamta I don't purposely skip breakfast. I just don't feel like eating." Sounds relatable? Let's understand the science behind it. There could be three possible reasons.

Firstly, you ate your dinner very late or couldn't resist your midnight cravings. Due to this, your last meal is itself not digested. It is very important to close your last meal latest by 8 pm so that your body has enough time to digest that meal.

Secondly, your digestive juices are low. Drinking hot lemon water in the morning helps in digestion. It will help produce hydrochloric acid which helps in digestion.

Third, the reason could be that your body has already adopted the habit of not consuming food in the morning. You can overcome it by starting slowly - A whole fruit or a cereal bowl could be an easy way of modifying your habit. Also, you can ditch the idea of a quintessential breakfast option and can make a dish that you really like. This will encourage you to make time and have a zeal for your breakfast.

Do combine your breakfast with a side activity such as music in the background ( written background on purpose or else a lot of people end up watching TV or YouTube). Isn't it a perfect start to the day?

For The Little Fussy Eaters

All the above ideas will fail when you are dealing with kids. Now it is time to get creative. Kids love to eat what elders are having. How about making a cereal sushi roll( basically cereals coating sliced banana-like sushi) and they would roll over the dish. Another interesting dish that I make for my younger cousins is apple donut. All I do is that I freeze the apple, scoop it out like a donut, and smear some fresh cream on the top for the donut effect.

Let's admit it, we need to trick these kids and make food eating fun. Those silly smileys( eyes, nose, lips made from fruits and vegetables) on the sandwich base are still the most exciting breakfast for the kids.

Last but not least, keep changing your breakfast menus after regular intervals. This will break the monotony.
