According to the Indian Railways, The Vande Bharat train service between Katra and Srinagar is all set to commence its journey between Srinagar and Katra after January 20, 2025. Features of Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express
Stationed at Shakurbasti coaching depot in New Delhi, the train has special climate-related features, according to railways.
Describing the features, railway officials said that the train has several additional features as compared to the other 136 Vande Bharat Express currently operating in different parts of the country. According to them, the train will be able to meet the operational challenges and passengers' amenities in extreme weather conditions of J-K.
Dileep Kumar, Executive Director (Information & Publicity) Railway Board said, “It has advanced heating systems which prevent freezing of water tank and bio-toilet tanks, provide warm air for vacuum system as well as laboratories and ensures air-brake system functions optimally for smooth operations even in sub-zero temperatures.”
He added, "It has embedded heating elements in the windshield so that the driver's front lookout glass gets automatically defrosted ensuring clear visibility in hard winter conditions."

Launch Date: The Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express will begin its journey after January 20. 2025.
Schedule: The Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express will cover 100 km in 3 hours, running from SVDK to Srinagar. It will operate six days a week, with departures from SVDK at 8:10 am and Srinagar at 12:45 pm.
Route: The Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express will run on the USBRL project route, making scheduled stops at key stations along the way.

“By connecting the Kashmir Valley more effectively to the national railway network, the train is a symbol of India's dedication to bridging geographical and economic gaps,” a press statement of the Railways said.
