Coronavirus outbreak which started in Wuhan city of China in December 2019, is slowly spreading all across the world. As of now, over 70 countries have been infected by the virus, including India. As per the latest reports, 28 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported so far. These include the three Kerala patients who were discharged after recovery last month and the remaining 25 cases were reported this week only.
Due to this, the government has issued advisories against travelling and many people are rethinking their travel plans. So, if you too have planned a trip or rethinking about your plans, here is everything you need to know about it and how you can stay safe!
Check U.S Government Websites And Stay Updated
The U.S Department of State (DOS) is tracking current outbreaks and continuously updating their websites to inform the tourists when they should cancel their trips or exercise increased caution in certain destinations due to the virus. So, check their website before planning heading to airport.
Do Your Homework
Before heading to a particular destination, do your research about that place and how many cases have been reported so far. Or could you face travel delays, inspections, and potential quarantine when returning home? Because recently, the U.K. announced that travellers who have visited Italy will need to self-quarantine for 14 days upon arrival. So, make sure you are aware of these policies for anywhere you plan to visit.
Stay In Touch With The Airline
After a coronavirus outbreak, many flights are getting delayed or cancelled, so make sure that the airline has your phone number or email id so that they can contact you if anything changes.
E-mail Your Hotel
If you have a reservation in a destination with an outbreak, you may be offered a full refund or offer to rebook if you reschedule your trip. If you are travelling elsewhere, policies may vary and you might not get a full refund. Also, if you are planning to travel to multipledestinations on a trip, talk to each hotel owner to know the current scenario and ensure you won't face any trouble.
