What Is the Indian Foreign Service (IFS)
The Indian Foreign Service (IFS) is the government of India's central civil service and its diplomatic branch under the Ministry of External Affairs. The service, which is made up of civil servants, is in charge of managing India's foreign relations, offering consular assistance, and indicating India's participation in international organisations. Education Qualification
Candidates must pass 10+2 with a minimum of 50% marks from a recognised board. Candidates must possess a degree from one of the reputable universities. Recruitment Process of Indian Foreign Service (IFS)
IFS officers are chosen through the annual UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE). To select candidates for the Group A and Group B Central services, the UPSC exam comprises three rounds of exams or tests which are: Preliminaries, Mains, and Interviews. After completing a brief foundation course at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in Mussoorie, newly hired candidates of the Indian Foreign Service are trained at the Sushma Swaraj Foreign Service Institute. The candidate is hired for this by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC). In other words, the official chosen through this procedure may be appointed to the Ministry's Joint Secretary position.

Indian Foreign Service (IFS) Salary
IFS officers get paid between ₹60,000 per month to ₹2.4 lakhs. It also depends on whether the highest position a candidate can achieve is the ambassador or the Foreign Secretary.
