India Post has opened online applications for Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) Recruitment 2026. The Government of India postal recruitment 2026 is a huge opportunity for those who want a government job without a written exam. The Indian Postal Department will select 28,740 GDS posts in the 23 postal circles across India. The recruitment is for the posts of Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS), Branch Post Master (BPM) and Assistant Branch Post Master (ABPM).

The registration for India Post GDS Recruitment 2026 has started from January 31, 2026. The candidates are required to submit online applications before February 14, 2026. The candidate has to deposit the Rs 100 application fee by February 16, 2026(5 pm). The last date to edit the forms is February 18 and 19, 2026. The first list of merit candidates will be announced on February 28, 2026. The merit list will have names of division, post, registration number, marks% and venue for document verification

India Post GDS Recruitment 2026: Vacancy Details

India Post has announced the state-wise vacancy details. It includes more than 2,100 in Maharashtra, more than 600 in Uttar Pradesh, more than 400 in West Bengal and more than 250 in Madhya Pradesh. Jharkhand alone will have more than 250 vacancies. On the other hand, there are many postal circles in other states like Delhi, Punjab, etc.

To apply online, the candidates have to fulfil the following conditions:

• Age should be between 18 years and 40 years, and age relaxation is applicable as per the Government norms
• Candidate must have passed Class 10 from any recognised board, with English and Maths as the main subjects
• He/she needs to apply for the local language as a post, and must have studied it till Class 10
• There will be no written test to select the candidates. Merits will be prepared based on the marks of Class 10 itself
• He/she should also have basic knowledge of computers and know bicycle rides as part of their daily work

GDS and ABPM posts offer Rs 10,000 to Rs 24470 per month. The BPM post can fetch Rs 12000 to Rs 29380. This is one of the most preferred government jobs also because of the reputation attached to India Post.
