The recently released Telugu language action-thriller film Yashoda is facing legal challenges. The film is directed by Hari and Harish, and stars Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the titular role alongside Unni Mukundan, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, and Murali Sharma.
After making great strides at the box office, despite receiving mixed reviews, the film’s OTT release has been ordered to be delayed by the Hyderabad City Civil Court. In the first 10 days of its launch, it has amassed a whopping ₹33 crore at the box office, according to Sridevi Movies, the film’s production house.

The lawsuit
The EVA IVF Hospital has taken legal action against Yashoda, claiming that the movie casts the hospital in a negative light, which can harm their credibility and reputation. The hospital’s administration has asserted that the film is damaging their reputation. Meanwhile, the court has looked into the petition and decided in the hospital’s favour by postponing the film’s OTT release.
At least until December 19, the movie cannot be released for viewing on OTT platforms. With regards to the hospital’s defamation, the courts have also served notices to the creators of Yashoda, however their responses are pending.
Filing a petition in a Hyderabad-based civil court, the hospital said that the movie has misused their name. Yashoda centres around surrogacy and has allegedly presented the hospital in a detrimental way.
The makers have received letters from the civil court ordering them to stop the film’s digital release or premiere while the case is still ongoing. On December 19, when the movie will be available for digital streaming, another hearing will be held to solve this matter.
