Actor Ranbir Kapoor apologised for his ‘phailaoed’ comment about pregnant Alia Bhatt that he made a few days ago. It was during the promotion of his upcoming film Brahmastra in Chennai, on August 23, 2022. He also blamed it on his bad sense of humour.

Brahmastra has been trending for a long time now, but mostly for the wrong reasons and this was another addition to the dumpster fire. A few days ago, during a live session on Instagram, when the celebrity couple was asked about the widespread promotion of their upcoming film Brahmastra, Bhatt was seen asking “if you are asking why we are not phailaoed everywhere…” Kapoor interrupted her and said, “but I can see someone here has phailaoed,” indicating how Bhatt has grown bigger (due to being pregnant with their child!).

This incident did not sit well with the audience and the internet was quick to criticise, comment, and lash out at the actor and their film.

On Tuesday, Kapoor was asked during the media interaction at the promotional event if he would like to comment on the controversial issue and the flak he has been facing since his thoughtless comment. He replied, “Yes, absolutely. Firstly, let me start with, I love my wife with everything that I have in my life. And what happened on that, I think it's a joke that didn't turn out to be funny. I really want to apologise if I have triggered anyone. It was not my intention. So I want to say sorry to people who got offended or triggered. I spoke to Alia about it and she really laughed it off and she didn't mind it. But I do have a bad sense of humour and sometimes it falls flat on my own face. So I am sorry if I have hurt anyone about it.”

The celebrity couple tied the knot in April this year and announced their pregnancy in June end. The duo is currently promoting their upcoming film Brahmastra, their first film together. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, the film is a one-of-a-kind Hindi fantasy adventure film and the first part of a planned trilogy as part of its own cinematic universe called Astraverse. The film is produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Namit Malhotra, and Mukerji and features Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy, and Nagarjuna Akkineni. The film is slated to have a theatrical release on September 9.
