'Not Elaichi In Biryani' Ayan Mukerji Defends 'Love Storiyan' In Kesariya Song, Calls It 'Shakar Mein Namak Ka Twist'

The much-awaited Kesariya song from the upcoming film Brahmastra was released on Sunday, and as soon as it did, it started trending. The romantic Hindi song was almost widely loved, but the listeners found it strange when the words "love storiyan" were suddenly used in one section.

This sparked a flurry of jokes and memes on social media describing the part as "elaichi in biryani." In response to the memes, Brahmastra director Ayan Mukerji defended the use of the words in the song. Check out what he said:

A video of Ayan Mukherji reacting to the memes on the song Kesariya is being widely shared on Reddit. In the video, Ayan said, "Yeh bahut chal raha hai kal se. Humne bahut pyaar se dala tha, interesting sa twist daala—interesting sa twist laga tha, we did not find it like elaichi, like bahut shakkar mein namak ka twist aur uska bhi ek maza hae, swaad hae" (This has been going on since yesterday. We added the lyrics with a lot of love, and it seemed like an interesting twist. We didn't find it to be like cardamon; rather, it was more like a salty twist in a lot of sugar. And that also has a special taste).

He explained further, "Because it's a modern film and that the song's lyrics are so simple and traditional we thought this line would be a fun twist. And I still think that people will enjoy it even more in the future."

Ranbir Kapoor Reacted To Kesariya Song Memes

In an interview with India.com, when asked about what he had to say about the trolling of his song Kesariya from Brahmastra, Ranbir Kapoor said, "For Love Storia? No, it’s great! See listen, we as filmmakers and artists create something and it is up to the audience to receive it how they do…We’re very excited about the song and it’s got a lot of love. Today, memes and trolling are all part of life and it’s fine as long as people enjoy the song, Pritam’s music, and Arijit Singh’s singing. I want them to enjoy my chemistry with Alia and that’s what the endeavor is."
