Monsoon is here and this time they aren't good news. If reports are to be believed at least 15 were killed in India due to monsoon floods and landslides. This year, India is experiencing unusual rains, especially in the northern region. States like Himachal Pradesh, Uttrakhand, Haryana, and Punjab are witnessing heavy showers for three days now which has led to loss of lives, floods, and infrastructure damage.

What Led To The Intense Rainfall?
If you too are wondering what led to the intense rainfall across India this year, here, read what director general of weather bureau, M Mohapatra has to say. According to him, an interaction between a western disturbance and the monsoon is the reason behind the heavy downpour in the country. In an interview with a leading media house, he said, “The interaction is causing heavy to very heavy rainfall over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, north Punjab and Haryana, Uttarakhand. As forecast by us that there will be good rainfall in July, we have covered the rainfall deficit now,” he said. “In the past nine days, rainfall was 24% excess for the period in July. Rainfall will gradually reduce over these states from tomorrow onwards.”
