Warner Bros’ original horror thriller ‘Weapons’, starring Julia Garner and directed by Zach Cregger, held onto its No 1 position at the box office during its second weekend. The film earned $25 million across 3,450 North American theatres, bringing its domestic total to $89 million. Globally, the film has reached $148.8 million.
Despite a 43% drop from its record-breaking opening frame, the hold was stronger than many industry predictions. Analysts noted that expansions to a few hundred more screens and positive word-of-mouth helped sustain momentum. With no major competition arriving next weekend, Weapons is expected to enjoy a third straight stay at the top.

The domestic earnings of 'Weapons' now match those of WB/New Line’s ‘Final Destinations: Bloodlines’, which had grossed $89.48 million at the same stage of its run. That film eventually closed at $138.1 million domestically and $285.3 million worldwide, a performance that now serves as a benchmark for Weapons.
