Project Hail Mary Tops Worldwide Charts Again, Dhurandhar 2 Slips to Fourth Spot

Ryan Gosling is officially ruling the cinemas right now. The big-budget space adventure ‘Project Hail Mary’ has comfortably secured the top spot at the North American box office for a second consecutive week, pulling in a massive USD 54.5 million in ticket sales.

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are the directors behind this massive adaptation of Andy Weir's novel, which follows an ordinary secondary school science teacher who suddenly has to figure out how to save the human race. The studio poured a hefty USD 200 million into making it, and that gamble is clearly paying off. Cinema-goers are absolutely packing out screenings, pushing the film's global takings to a staggering USD 300.8 million already.

Hoppers Global Box Office Earnings

Holding its ground firmly in second place is Disney and Pixar’s latest animated feature, ‘Hoppers’. The film added another USD 12.2 million across the United States and Canada this weekend. Industry trackers Exhibitor Relations and Deadline report that the film's global earnings currently sit at USD 297.6 million, meaning it will easily smash the USD 300 million barrier early next week.

Built on a USD 150 million budget, this wildly original story follows a young wildlife enthusiast who uploads her consciousness into a robotic beaver to better understand and protect local animals. It’s exactly the kind of heartfelt, quirky storytelling families love to watch together.

They Will Kill You Box Office Earnings

Landing in third place is Warner Bros' fresh horror flick, ‘They Will Kill You’, which managed to pull in USD 5 million over its debut weekend. It features Zazie Beetz, Harry Potter favourite Tom Felton, and Oscar-winner Patricia Arquette. The story follows a maid who takes on a job in a seriously sketchy New York apartment block where the tenants have a rather grim habit of vanishing into thin air.

Dhurandhar 2 Breaks Historic Baahubali Record

Slipping to fourth place, but making absolute history in the process, is the Hindi-language spy thriller ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’. In its second weekend, the Aditya Dhar-directed sequel scooped up USD 4.75 million.

Releasing a mere three months after the first instalment hit North American screens, the film follows Ranveer Singh as an undercover Indian operative dismantling terror networks from inside Pakistani political and criminal syndicates.

It might have slipped down to fourth place on the charts this week, but ‘Dhurandhar 2’ has just pulled off something historic. By taking in a total of USD 22.9 million, the spy thriller has completely smashed the North American box office record previously set by ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’ back in 2017. Beating that nine-year-old USD 20.8 million benchmark makes it the highest-grossing Indian release to ever hit North American cinemas.
