Mayasabha Ending Explained (SPOILER WARNING)

As the film moves towards the final moments, it is revealed that the ‘gold hunt’ which everyone was after, is a secondary distraction to Parmeshwar’s (Jaaved Jaaferi) mental disintegration. We get to hear about Parmeshwar’s past from Zeenat (Veena Jamkar). As Zeenat continues to narrate the truth behind Parmeshwar’s past, the walls of the theatre start to close in. 

This psychological thriller comes to an end with no gold heist. We get to see a total collapse of the protagonist's delusions, leaving the ‘gold’ everyone was chasing as a symbolic MacGuffin for the audience's own greed and want for a typical happy ending.

While this ending left many viewers confused, some understood the deeper meaning behind this and accepted the final chapter as shown.
