‘Gandhi Talks’ essentially narrates the story of Mahadev who is an unemployed college grad grappling with a quest for steady footing in life, and is nudged towards morally difficult choices between the ways of the modern world. Vijay Sethupathi is perfectly suited to bring out this author's edge of under-display, while AR Rahman's powerful score provides the perfect backdrop for this story, without a single uttered word.
While some reviews feel there could have been slightly sharper editing in a few sections, the love so far expressed on Twitter is on the whole overwhelmingly appreciative.
