Unfiltered Truth Of Motherhood

Speaking about this Avantika shared that “A woman's life drastically changes after becoming a mother. It totally transforms you." For her, it was like being sleepless for three to six months. Being irritated, cranky, confused and on top of the responsibility of taking the utmost care of the newborn. And that's how she started speaking about motherhood (experience and struggles).

Difference Between A Women And A Mother

Avantika also mentioned the difference between a woman and a mother. She shared that “If you are a married woman without a child then you do not make decisions depending on the child you have but the moment you become a mother your entire life revolves around the child, like whether you should go out at night or not.”

How A Woman's Life Changes After Becoming A Mother

Talking about her experience she shared, “We are caregivers. When you become a mother it's natural that you care for your child and you have to be there for them. Sending a child to daycare, travelling alone, and going on work trips; these were considered taboo. The father has to share the equal responsibility of the child with the mother, especially if she's working. I think it's my decision that I have taken and I'm very confident about it. My style of parenting is happy parenting; happy moms raise happier kids.”

Workplace Changes Women Face

Speaking on workplace changes she said, “There's a lot that needs to be changed.” While I was giving interviews, one of the HRs asked, “How do you plan to take care of your child if you are at work?” To this, she replied, “Do you ask the same question to a man?” Sharing an instance about flexible timing she said, “Whenever I used to pick up my bag to leave my manager used to call for a meeting. This happened twice and on the third day I said, 'You told me there will be flexible time for all mothers and I will complain about this.” She added that it is necessary for women to speak. It's not only about the company's policies and rules but the mindset also has to be changed.

Mothers Need To See Themselves As Individual

Speaking on women's identity Avantika shared that, “Women should be passionate about what they love and do. Take challenges and do what you like. Your mental health, self-care and self-love are very important for all mothers.”

A Good Mother

On defining the term “Good Mother”, Avantika shared that, “Every mother is a good mother, only she knows what is best for her child. Even when you are in trouble and you go to your child, the child will say, 'Mummy, you're the best.' You can be a bad mother to people, society or yourself but your child will never say that. You are always the best and a good mother for your child.”
