Who was Nancy Grewal? Controversial Punjabi YouTuber Murdered In Canada

A Punjabi social media influencer with a large following due to her outspoken views and fearless comments on Indian and Canadian politics has been stabbed to death at her home in LaSalle, Ontario. The police confirmed her murder on Wednesday after police officers found her with fatal stab injuries at her home the previous evening. No one has been arrested in connection with her murder.

"The LaSalle Police Service offers our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Ms. Grewal," police said in an official social media statement.

Who was Nancy Grewal? Controversial Punjabi YouTuber Murdered In Canada

Nancy Grewal, whose real name was Anita Agnihotri, was a 45-year-old YouTuber hailing originally from Ludhiana, Punjab. She spent her childhood and teenage years in Sirsa, Punjab and later completed higher education at a national college, details she had shared on her Facebook profile. Before moving to Windsor and LaSalle, a part of Ontario, Nancy Grewal had spent her earlier years in Calgary, Alberta.

She was a well-known figure across Punjab and other regions of Punjab-speaking populations because of her bold opinions on controversial political and religious issues.

Nancy Grewal's Political Views and Online Presence

Grewal did not hold back in her opinions either. She went ahead to criticize the imprisoned MP Amritpal Singh, Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia, as well as the chief of Dera Beas Gurinder Singh Dhillon. When there were issues in the diplomatic relationship between India and Canada, she did not hesitate to openly condemn the Khalistani supporters, and she targeted Gurpatwant Singh Pannun and former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on the issue of how Canada handled the issue of the separatists on its soil.

She willingly plunged into these flashpoints. This made her a controversial figure: some praised her candor, and others felt anger.

Just a few weeks before her death, Grewal had spoken out publicly about the murder of another social media influencer, Kanchan Kumari, also known as Kamal Kaur Bhabhi, whose body was found in Bathinda in June 2025.

The Nancy Grewal Stabbing: What Happened in Windsor

Emergency services were contacted following a report of a stabbing at Grewal's residence in LaSalle just before 9:30 pm on Tuesday. Upon the arrival of police and paramedics, the victim was discovered to have sustained severe stab wounds. Despite being transported to the hospital by Essex-Windsor Emergency Medical Services, she succumbed to her injuries.

This fatality occurred approximately two weeks after the region recorded its first homicide of 2026.

Nancy Grewal Homicide Investigation: What Police Know So Far

Police have classified Grewal's death as a homicide and identified the victim. However, so far, no suspect has been arrested, and no motive has been revealed in the case, according to the latest updates. Investigators have stressed that they do not believe the attack poses any wider threat to public safety, describing it as an isolated incident.

Detectives are now appealing to residents in the area to check their dashcam and doorbell camera footage for anything that might assist the inquiry. Anyone with information has been asked to contact Detective Sergeant Jamie Nestor directly, or reach out anonymously through Crime Stoppers.

The investigation is ongoing.
