Actor Zeenat Aman Shares About Her Ptosis Surgery, Expert Reveals What The Eye Condition Is About

Veteran Bollywood actress Zeenat Aman recently revealed that she received a diagnosis of ptosis, or a drooping upper eyelid, in her right eye. Here is what the eye condition is all about.

Veteran actress Zeenat Aman recently shared about a problem she has had for 40 years for which she had to undergo surgery on May 19, 2023. Zeenat Aman shared this news on Instagram that she had surgery the day after filming a photo shoot for Vogue, and shared an adorable picture of her son Zahaan kissing her forehead before escorting her to the operating room. She expressed her gratitude to her family and the hardworking staff at Hinduja Hospital in the post. She expressed her gratitude to her Bollywood industry friends for agreeing to collaborate with her despite the eye damage that slightly changed her look.

She revealed on Instagram that she had ptosis, a disease caused by damage to the muscles surrounding her right eye which happened some decades ago. She wrote, “Over the years, it caused my eyelid to droop further and further. And a few years ago it became so acute that it began to obstruct my vision.”

What Is Ptosis?

Ptosis, also referred to as a droopy eyelid, is marked by the upper eyelid drooping or sagging. The severity of this illness varies and it might affect one or both eyelids.

The ptosis can partially or even obstruct normal vision. Numerous reasons, such as age-related changes, nerve injury, muscular weakness, or congenital (existing from birth) factors, might contribute to this eye condition.

Also, this condition Ptosis can cause visual blockage and might require medical assessment and treatment, including surgery to raise the drooping eyelid, depending on the underlying reason and severity.

1. One or both eyelids drooping

2. Increased tearing

3. Having trouble keeping the affected eyelid open

4. The uneven look of the affected eye.

5. Strain on the eyes from straining to lift the eyelid

Ptosis Treatment:

Ptosis treatment is based on the severity and the cause of the condition. To treat the underlying disease, it can include medication, surgery, or other interventions. It might also involve elevating the eyelid for better appearance and vision.
