Who Is Rajpal Yadav’s Wife Radha Yadav? Inside the Actor’s Personal Life and ₹9 Crore Debt Controversy

Rajpal Yadav, the actor who appeared in over 215 films and is known as one of the most reliable comedy actors in Hindi cinema, has made his mark in movies like ‘Hungama’, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’, ‘Chup Chup Ke’, ‘Dhol’, and ‘Garam Masala’. He's been a recognisable face across genres for over two decades, with his impeccable comedic timing and relatability.

However, the actor is currently facing difficulties. He has publicly admitted to being unable to repay a debt from 2010, which has reportedly ballooned to ₹9 crore. Rajpal had allegedly taken ₹5 crore to produce his directorial debut ‘Ata Pata Lapata’, which bombed at the box office. Despite reportedly earning ₹7-8 crore in the last two years, he hasn't been able to clear the dues due to accumulating interest and protracted legal delays.

Rajpal Yadav is currently in Tihar Jail for a ₹9 crore cheque bounce case. His bail plea is scheduled for today (February 12, 2026), and his manager is hopeful for his release.

Is Rajpal Yadav Bankrupt?

Public opinion on this matter is divided. Some on social media are questioning the actor's claims of financial distress.

One Reddit user stated, "I just don't buy that this guy has no money. This case has been going on for 16 years. He agreed to pay in instalments, then missed payments nearly 20 times or submitted incorrect information on demand drafts. He's a major comedy star who has done numerous films since 2010. If he does international stage shows, television appearances like ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’, and regular film work, it's hard to believe he wouldn't be able to arrange Rs 9 crore. Nine crore is a large amount, but even a small role in a big film can easily pay Rs 25 to 50 lakh. How has he not cleared the dues?"

Reports indicate that in 2024, Rajpal was paid ₹1 crore each for ‘Kathal’, ‘Dream Girl’, and ‘Baby John’. For ‘Chandu Champion’, his fee was reportedly ₹2 crore, and for ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’, it was believed to be between ₹2-3 crore. According to India.com, he received only 4% of what Varun Dhawan was reportedly paid for ‘Baby John’.

What is Rajpal's Side of the Story?

Although many reports have labelled the amount as a loan, Rajpal Yadav has presented a different narrative.

He told Lallantop, "There are three accusations made against me. One, that I committed a fraud of Rs 5 crore. Two, I took a loan. Three, that I committed fraud. However, in my opinion, it was a security check that I invested in, since I have never paid any interest on this money. The case is still in court, and I am thankful to the court for considering my perspective."

He further explained, "Madhav Gopal Agarwal gave me ₹5 crore to make a film. I didn't take it as a loan, he invested it as a financer because he wanted his grandson to be launched as the lead actor."

Who is Rajpal Yadav’s Wife Radha Yadav?

Radha Yadav, Rajpal's second wife, has been steadfast in her support. The couple met in 2001 while shooting ‘The Hero’, directed by Anil Sharma, in Canada, and they got married on May 10, 2003. Rajpal's first wife had passed away after giving birth to their daughter.

Regarding the current case, Radha said, "Everybody has stood by him. The industry has been supportive. A big thank you to everyone who is coming out to help."

Bollywood Steps in to Help Rajpal Yadav

After his emotional statement before surrendering at Tihar Jail, several members of the film fraternity reportedly came forward to support him. Sonu Sood and Guru Randhawa were among the first to express solidarity. Later, Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, David Dhawan, Varun Dhawan, and Ratan Nain, among others, reportedly contacted his manager Goldie to offer financial assistance.

Whether Rajpal Yadav is actually bankrupt or embroiled in a protracted legal and financial dispute remains to be seen, as it is now in the hands of the courts. For now, the veteran actor's fate hinges on the decision in his bail hearing and the resolution of a case that has followed him for over a decade.
