According to a report, sales of hand sanitizer have skyrocketed, peaking around 73% higher than they were at this time last year. Recently, the World Health Organization (WHO) has released an official guide to making hand sanitizer at home for populations that do not have clean water or other medical-grade products in place.

Here's What You Need

  • Isopropyl alcohol or rubbing alcohol 99.8% : 300ml
  • Hydrogen peroxide 3%: 4 ml
  • Glycerol 98% : 45ml
  • Sterile distilled or boiled cold water
  • Container with watertight lid
  • Small funnel (optional)

Process

  • Stir together the hydrogen peroxide and rubbing alcohol until fully incorporated.
  • Next, addGlycerol and sterile distilled water to it. Mix it well.
  • Using a funnel, transfer the mixture into a bottle with a secure lid. When you use the hand sanitizer, dispense a few drops of it onto your palm and rub all over the surface of both hands until completely dry.

Other Ways To Prevent Coronavirus

  • Wash your hands thoroughly or apply hand sanitizer after touching a suspected contaminated surface.
  • Avoid close contact with sick people.
  • CDC recommends wearing a N-95 mask.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, mouth or nose without washing your hands.
