Apple Watch Series 8 has been launched recently with advanced health sensors. So far, most smartwatches have integrated features to track different health parameters, but this new launch has temperature sensing and improved period cycle predictions.

According to Apple, users can download the Apple Health application and get ovulation readings. It will help people predict their fertility windows and deviations in the menstrual cycle.
Now people can do their family planning by tracking their periods and other health parameters via the Apple watch. It will also allow users to document their hormonal and menstrual health and share the data with their healthcare providers.
The watch also comes with a temperature sensing feature that documents the functioning of the body even when the user is asleep. It uses this information in retrospect to predict the date of ovulation.
The feature will also come in handy for couples looking to avoid pregnancy. However, it is not a full-proof birth control option. It will only provide cycle predictions around which users can plan their sexual encounters.
Privacy Concerns After Roe Vs Wade

Since the US Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, many states have reportedly restricted or banned abortions. The data collected through this can be used against many menstruators capable of getting pregnant.
Hence, people must be wary of sharing their personal health information. Privacy experts have already raised their concerns against this, and many women in the US have reportedly uninstalled period-tracking applications on their phones.
However, Apple made it evident that the data collection through the watch will be locally stored on Apple devices. The tech company stated that it strictly follows the guidelines for data security and privacy to store personal information.
