Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Netflix India have joined forces and have gifted the audiences a teaser of the upcoming web series, Heermandi. Taking to Instagram, Netflix posted a teaser clip that provides a glimpse into the world of Heeramandi featuring its protagonists. The ace Bollywood director has turned the OTT way and is making his web series debut with Heeramandi.

The web series explores the cultural reality of Heeramandi, a dazzling district, through the stories of courtesans and their patrons set against the tumultuous backdrop of the Indian freedom struggle in the 1940s. A mix of love, betrayal, succession, and politics in the kothas or what are the house of courtesans, Heeramandi promises Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s signature style of larger-than-life stories, intricate and soulful characters, and rippling dynamics of a world rife with conflict during a defining time period for India.

The First Look Of Heeramandi Ft. The Old World Looks

The teaser video begins with a closer glimpse of the actors - Manisha Koirala, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharmin Segal, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Shaikh and Sonakshi Sinha. All the actors are seen in mustard and black outfits as they sit next to one another. Sonakshi, the only person, who stood amongst them, did a salaam looking at the camera.

Deconstructing The Protagonists’ Looks

All the protagonists including Manisha Koirala, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharmin Segal, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Shaikh and Sonakshi Sinha are draped in old-world vintage courtesan fits that comprise of flowy and grand Anarkalis, lots of silks, intricate handwork laden dupattas, big and out there statement chapkas, maang tikas, layered maharani necklaces, oh-so-many bangles and haath-phools. The looks of these larger-than-life courtesans are completed with ringlet bearing hair and lots of kohl-laden hypnotising eyes and crimson-stained lips.
