What Is Chiraiya About?

Produced by SVF Entertainment, ‘Chiraiya’ tells the story of a young woman named Pooja, whose dreams of a happy married life slowly begin to crumble after she enters her husband’s home.

The teaser introduces viewers to Pooja as a hopeful bride stepping into a new chapter. However, as the story unfolds, she begins to face painful realities hidden behind the façade of a traditional household. What appears normal to those around her soon reveals a troubling truth about the way certain behaviours are quietly accepted within marriage.

At the centre of the narrative is a strong matriarchal figure played by Divya Dutta. Her character finds herself caught between protecting family harmony and confronting the injustice unfolding within the household. The role demands emotional complexity, as she must decide whether to remain silent or stand up for what is right.

The series openly challenges the long-standing belief that marriage automatically implies consent. Through its narrative, ‘Chiraiya’ questions a mindset that has often allowed serious issues to remain hidden within families.

The show’s tagline, ‘#ShaadiLicenseNahiHai’ (Marriage is not a licence), reinforces this message. It highlights the idea that a marriage certificate cannot justify forced intimacy or silence a woman’s voice.
