The University Grants Commission (UGC) recently released its draft of faculty recruitment, hinting at some significant changes in the academic recruitment and promotion processes.
According to the reports, the reforms will be in accordance with the regulations of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. UGC Draft Norms 2025: Changes To Note
- Earlier, the candidates applying for teaching jobs were required to have degrees in the same subject in all their levels, however, now, they will be able to apply on the basis of their highest academic qualification or NET/SET.
- For promotion procedures, contributions of the candidates to teaching, research, etc., will be prioritised.
- Holistic achievements will be favoured over the score-based shortlisting procedure.
