1.Olive Oil

Pratiksha said that olive oil is packed with monounsaturated fat that can lower the levels of LDL cholesterol while still increasing HDL cholesterol levels in a person. Additionally, extra virgin olive oil has antioxidant properties, making it even more health-beneficial for your heart.

2. Avocado Oil

“Avacado Oil can slash LDL cholesterol and triglyceride levels, aided by its content of phytosterols, which are compounds found in plants, essentially making Avocado Oil a good source of monounsaturated fats,” shared Pratiksha.

3.Canola Oil

Kadam said, “Another heart disease-friendly oil is canola oil, being low in saturated fats yet high in monounsaturated fats, it consists of omega-3 fatty acids in the form of alpha-linolenic acid that proves quite useful in combating inflammation along with, improving cholesterol levels.”

4. Walnut Oil

The expert said that having a high source of unsaturated fats and Omega-3 fatty acids, walnut oil is effective in optimising LDL cholesterol levels. However, you should remember that walnut oil is also high in calories which is why moderation is key.

5.Flaxseed Oil

“Also an alternative ALA omega-3 fatty acids source, flaxseed oil helps lower LDL cholesterol levels. It should be used in cold dishes or added to food after cooking to help preserve its delicate beneficial properties,” shared Pratiksha.

6.Soybean Oil

The dietician explained that soybean oil is high in polyunsaturated fats and low in saturated fats, therefore, it helps improve your cholesterol levels. “It replaces butter or lard; hence, cholesterol-laden saturated fats, in the diet,” she added.

"Hence, in the selection of oils for cholesterol control, you would pick oils that have higher levels of unsaturated fats and lower levels of saturated fats and trans fats. Just replacing some of these healthier oils in your diet can facilitate improvement in the cholesterol profile and general heart health," concluded Pratiksha.
