On January 5, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, inaugurated the highly anticipated extension of the Magenta Line under Phase-4 of the Delhi Metro. This development is a part of the broader expansion of the Delhi Metro network, designed to make commuting smoother and faster for residents of Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR). The new section, connecting Janakpuri West to Krishna Park Extension, will significantly benefit the residents, easing congestion and boosting connectivity across major parts of the city.
The newly inaugurated extension of the Magenta Line marks the first segment of the Phase-4 project. This extended route includes just one new station, extending the metro service from the Botanical Garden to Krishna Park. Once completed, the entire Phase-4 project will connect RK Ashram to the Magenta Line, with an expected completion date in 2026.

Trains on the Janakpuri West–Krishna Park Extension route will run every 16 minutes. This extension is set to enhance connectivity for surrounding areas and provide a smoother travel experience for commuters. The new 2.8-kilometer stretch on the Magenta Line, part of Delhi Metro Phase-4, includes one station: Krishna Park Extension. This extension connects to the already operational section of the Magenta Line, which runs from the Botanical Garden to Janakpuri West.

The Janakpuri West to Krishna Park Extension on the Magenta Line of Delhi Metro Phase 4 has just one station: Krishna Park Extension. The official press release of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (DMRC) stated, “With the addition of Krishna Park Extension Station, the Delhi Metro network now comprises 289 stations spanning a total length of 394.448 km. This new section is an extension of the already operational Botanical Garden – Janakpuri West on Magenta Line. This extension ensures that metro services will now run up to Krishna Park Extension, offering enhanced connectivity to commuters in the nearby areas.”

Delhi Metro Phase 4 Magenta Line Time And Frequency of Operations
Starting from 3 pm on January 5, 2025, services will be available at the new Krishna Park Extension station. Earlier, trains on the Janakpuri West-Krishna Park Extension route will run every 16 minutes. This extension is expected to enhance connectivity for surrounding areas, making travel more convenient and smoother for commuters. With this new addition, the Magenta Line now covers about 40 kilometers.
As per the official press release of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (DMRC) it stated, “With the addition of this section, the Magenta Line will now become about 40 kilometers long. The rest of the Magenta Line extension from Krishna Park Extension to RK Ashram Marg will be completed by the year 2026 in phases. Work is in progress for the remaining corridor as well.”
