Payal Kapadia, the groundbreaking Indian filmmaker who captivated the film world with her Grand Prix win at Cannes 2024, returns to the prestigious festival in 2025 — this time as a jury member.
Kapadia's debut feature film ‘All We Imagine As Light’ made history last year as the first Indian film to enter the festival's prestigious competition lineup in three decades. The film went on to win widespread acclaim and touched audiences worldwide following its theatrical release.
Festival organisers unveiled on Monday the complete eight-member jury that will join acclaimed French actress Juliette Binoche, who serves as president for the 78th edition of the French film festival next month.

The carefully selected jury brings together celebrated filmmakers, actors, and writers from diverse backgrounds and artistic sensibilities. Joining Kapadia on the prestigious panel are Oscar-winning American actress Halle Berry, Italian actor Alba Rohrwacher, Korean filmmaker Hong Sangsoo, Congolese director Dieudo Hamadi, Mexican filmmaker Carlos Reygadas, French-Moroccan writer Leïla Slimani, and ‘Succession’ star Jeremy Strong.
