Padma Awards 2025: Ajith Kumar, Arijit Singh, Balakrishna, Late Pankaj Udhas Honoured; Full List

139 personalities were selected for this year's Padma Awards, comprising Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri, announced on the eve of India's 76th Republic Day. While 71 recipients received their honours during this ceremony, the remaining awardees will be recognised in a separate function scheduled for the near future.

The awards celebrate remarkable achievements across multiple domains, including music, cinema, literature, sports, medicine, banking, spirituality, and industry. They highlight India's diverse talent pool and contributions to national development.

Padma Vibhushan 2025 Recipients

The Padma Vibhushan, India's second-highest civilian honour, was conferred upon four distinguished personalities:

• Osamu Suzuki (Posthumous): The former chief of Suzuki Motor Corporation was recognised for his transformative impact on the global automobile industry and his company's significant role in India's automotive sector.
• Lakshminarayana Subramaniam: The renowned violinist received the award for his outstanding contribution to Indian classical music and for promoting it on international platforms.
• Dr D Nageshwar Reddy: The Chairman of the Asian Institute of Gastroenterology, was celebrated for his pioneering work and innovations in the field of gastroenterology.
• M T Vasudevan Nair (Posthumous): The celebrated Malayalam author and filmmaker was awarded posthumously for his excellence in literature and cinema that enriched Indian cultural heritage.

Padma Bhushan 2025 Awardees

The Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian award, honoured these notable personalities:

• Pankaj Udhas (Posthumous): The veteran singer known for his soulful ghazals and significant contribution to Indian music.
• Sushil Kumar Modi (Posthumous): Former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, recognised for his dedicated contributions to public service and governance.
• Shekhar Kapur: The veteran actor and filmmaker is celebrated for his pathbreaking work in Indian and international cinema.
• Ajith Kumar: The acclaimed Tamil actor received the honour for his contributions to cinema as well as his accomplishments in motorsports.

Padma Shri Winners 2025

The Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian honour, was bestowed upon several distinguished individuals, including:

• Arijit Singh: The celebrated playback singer from West Bengal was recognised for his soulful voice and immense contribution to the Bollywood music industry.
• Arundhati Bhattacharya: Former chairperson of the State Bank of India, recognised for her exemplary leadership in banking and financial inclusion.
• Pawan Kumar Goenka: The industrialist and IN-SPACe Chairman, was honoured for his significant contributions to the automotive and space sectors.
• Ravichandran Ashwin: The Indian cricketer was awarded for his excellence in sports and outstanding achievements on the cricket field.
• Vinod Dham: The Indian-American engineer widely known as the 'Father of the Pentium' chip received recognition for his revolutionary work in technology.
• Dr Arkalgud Anantaramaiah Surya Prakash: The scholar was acknowledged for his outstanding work in education and research.
• Dr Satyapal Singh: The Para Athletics Coach was awarded for his contributions to sports coaching and developing para-athletes.
• Dr Vijayalakshmi Deshmane: The oncologist was recognised for her pioneering contributions to cancer treatment and research.
• Bhai Harjinder Singh: The Raagi and Shabad singer received the award for his contributions to spiritual music and preserving traditional art forms.

• Nandamuri Balakrishna: The popular Telugu actor and politician, also known as Balayya, was recognised for his contributions to cinema and public service.
• P R Sreejesh: The former Indian hockey player was honoured for his achievements in sports and role in elevating Indian hockey internationally.
• Pankaj Patel: The Chairperson of Zydus Life Sciences was recognised for his groundbreaking work in the pharmaceutical industry and healthcare innovation.
• Dr Jose Chacko Periappuram: The renowned surgeon was honoured for his pioneering work in heart surgeries and advancing cardiac care in India.
• Bhimavva Doddabalappa Shilleky: The 96-year-old puppeteer was recognised for her lifelong efforts in preserving traditional puppetry and cultural heritage.
• Stephen Knapp: The American author was celebrated for his extensive writings on Vedic culture and efforts to promote Indian spirituality globally.
• Jaspinder Narula: The accomplished singer was honoured for her significant contributions to Indian music across different genres.
• Ganeshwar Shastri Dravid: The Vedic scholar received recognition for his profound contributions to ancient literature and for preserving Vedic knowledge.
