About The National Book Critics Circle

The National Book Critics Circle of the NBCC was founded back in 1974 at New York's Algonquin Hotel. People who were behind establishing the NBCC were critics like Ivan Sandrof, Nona Balakian, and John Leonard. The purpose behind starting this organisation was to honour literary excellence when funding for other awards was reduced. From 1974 to 2026, this organisation has come a long way and has honoured several authors over the years for their continuation in the world of literature.
