Jaya Prada has been declared ‘absconding’ by the court of law for the violation of the code of conduct. Furthermore, an arrest warrant against her has also been issued. Two cases have been filed against the former actress and MP.

In the legal court of Uttar Pradesh's Rampur, former actress and Bharatiya Janata Party MP Jaya Prada has been declared to be ‘absconding’. She has been escaping after two cases of violating the code of conduct have been filed against her. She broke this code of conduct during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The court has issued a final arrest warrant for the police to arrest her before March 6, 2024.

Senior Prosecution officer Amarnath Tiwari stated that two cases had been filed against the former MP and Bollywood actress from Rampur at Kemari and Swar police stations for violating the Model code of conduct during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Jaya Prada was the BJP candidate for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Rampur and was defeated by Azam Khan from the Samajwadi Party.

Jaya Prada’s Career From Acting To Politics

Jaya Prada’s acting career started after she was discovered at the age of 14 by filmmaker Prabhakar Reddy. He made her acting debut with the Telugu movie ‘Bhoomi Kosam’ in 1976 by featuring a song. She further starred as the protagonist in Telugu movies like ‘Devude Digivaste’ and ‘Naaku Swatantram Vachindhi’.

She started working in the Hindi film industry after doing movies like ‘Sargam’ and ‘Siri Siri Muvva’. She became the leading lady of both Hindi and Telugu film industries with hits like ‘Shankar Jaikishan’, ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’, and ‘Himmatwali’. Her rivalry and competition with Sridevi was a hot topic of those days. However, her career started to fade in the 90s.

In 1994, she joined the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and was soon elected to the Rajya Sabha. In 2004, after joining the Samajwadi Party, she fought for Rampur, UP and won the seat. She continued to serve as the MP for Rampur until 2014. In 2019, she joined the PM Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and continues to be a member.
