Shikhar Dhawan-Ayesha Mukherjee Granted Divorce By New Delhi Court; Read 5 Highlights Of The Case

The Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan got married to Ayesha Mukherjee in October 2012. Mukherjee had two daughters from her previous marriage and later on, the couple also became parents to their baby boy Zoravar. They are now getting divorced as the Family Court in the Patiala House complex in Delhi permits them. Scroll down to read the highlights of their case.

Why Are Shikhar Dhawan and Ayesha Mukherjee Getting Divorced?

Dhawan had filed the divorce petitionsbecause his estranged wife Ayesha Mukherjee had been mentally agonising him with cruelty and kept him away from his only son for years. The court has now accepted all the accusations against the wife.

Previous Statements

Ayesha had previously given statements about divorcing Dhawan too while Dhawan mentioned in an interview that he missed the red flags in the relationship.

Custody of Son

While the court has abstained from passing any order on the permanent custody of the son, it has allowed Dhawan to visit his son and interact with him over video calls for a reasonable period in India and in Australia (Ayesha Mukherjee’s current residence).

Mukherjee’s Defence

While announcing the final decision on the case, Judge Harish Kumar mentioned in his order that Mukherjee either did not contest the above allegations or failed to defend herself.

Mukherjee To Bring Zoravar To India

Ayesha has been ordered by the court to bring Zoravar to India for visiting and staying overnight with Shikhar and his family members for at least half the period of school holidays during the academic calendar.

The decision was made considering the needs of the child to spend time with his father and family and his right to be in their company.
