In a major legal update as of February 25, 2026, a Delhi family court in Patiala House has withdrawn the 'Property Settlement' orders issued by an Australian court for Shikhar Dhawan and his ex-wife, Ayesha Mukherjee. The Delhi court ordered Ayesha to return approximately ₹5.72 crore (around AU$894,000) that was paid earlier by the cricketer.

Who is Shikhar Dhawan's Ex-Wife Ayesha Mukherjee?

Born in India but raised in Australia, Ayesha Mukherjee is a former amateur kickboxer and fitness enthusiast. She got married to Shikhar Dhawan in 2012 after dating for four years. Ayesha is twelve years older than Dhawan and has two daughters, Aliyah and Rhea, from her previous marriage. In December 2014, the couple welcomed a baby boy named Zorawar.

Why Did the Delhi Court Order Ayesha Mukherjee to Refund ₹5.7 Crore?

The Delhi family court grants cricketer Shikhar Dhawan a major legal victory, ordering his ex-wife, Ayesha Mukherjee, to refund approximately ₹5.7 Cr. Judge Devender Kumar Garg declared previous financial settlements null and void, ruling that Ayesha obtained them through extortion, threats, and fraudulent action.

The court further imposed a 9% annual interest penalty on the refund and rejected the Australian court's jurisdiction over the couple's Indian assets. The court further found that Ayesha forced Shikhar to register properties in her name and used defamatory threats to damage his career.

What did the Australian Court Order say earlier?

The Australian Court divided the couple's global assets, including Dhawan's Indian properties, granting his ex-wife 15% extra tangible pool, AU$1.17 million in assets, a AU$2.5 million payment from Dhawan, and directly transferring a specific property.

Presently, the Delhi Court marked Australian proceedings were 'alien' to the Indian legal system, and Dhawan is not bound by the Australian court's order anymore.
