This series is about the Marvel comic character Wonder Man. The story follows Simon Williams, an aspiring actor who wants to play his beloved superhero character Wonder Man on the big screen. After many rounds of auditions and missed opportunities, Simon (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) lands a role in the movie Wonder Man. While he gets to do the lead role, his friend Trevor (Ben Kingsley) gets roped in for the loyal assistant’s character, Barney. In the movie, Barney is set to betray Wonder Man, and Trevor does the same with Simon. Trevor has been ordered to keep a check on Simon because of his superpowers, which are illegal on a movie set. Through a series of unfortunate events, Simon messes up the movie set by losing control of his powers after realising that he has them. This move suddenly grabs the attention of the authorities and the media.
In the last episode of ‘Wonder Man’, we get to see Trevor, who had been spying on him the whole time, decide to play the good cop. He takes all the blame on himself and turns himself in. In the meantime, Simon tries to process everything that has been happening. His movie, ‘Wonder Man’ became a hit. At the premiere, Simon comes up with a plan to use his powers and jailbreak Trevor out.
Towards the end of the series, Simon decides to stay aloof from all the fame and starts to live like a normal guy. In his new life, he is living under the name of Chuck Eastman, giving an open ending to the series that shows that there can be hope for a better universe.
