About ‘Taali’

'Taali' (Taali trailer) is helmed by the National Award-winning director Ravi Jadhav and scripted by Kshitij Patwardhan. The series revolves around the life of activist Gauri Sawant, who was born as Ganesh and grew up in Pune.

Shreegauri Sawant, based in Mumbai, has emerged as a prominent transgender activist. She played a pivotal role as one of the petitioners in the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) case of 2013, a case that led to the Supreme Court recognising individuals belonging to the transgender community as the third gender. This historic verdict was handed down in 2014.

Currently, Gauri occupies the role of director at Sakhi Char Chowghi, an organisation that assists transgenders and those impacted by HIV/AIDS. Importantly, she also fulfills the role of goodwill ambassador for the Election Commission (EC) in Maharashtra.
