The death of Rajasthan-based popular kathavachak Sadhvi Prem Baisa brought shock and heated discussion across Rajasthan. Known for her kathavachan and devotional singing, the Sadhvi passed away under suspicious circumstances in Jodhpur, raising serious questions about whether it was a natural death, suicide, or something more troubling. Her passing comes months after she found herself at the centre of a viral video controversy that had already subjected her to intense public scrutiny.
As per sources, she was renowned for her kathavachan and bhajan singing and religiously focused on spreading Sanatan Dharma firmly without compromising the faith and social reform ideology of Sanatan Dharma. She was from Pasrau village of Barmer district, Rajasthan. She was said to be working and following her father, Mahant Veermanath, as Guru and residing at kutir ashram. She was a known devotional singer and poet among Sant Samaj/followers.

In July last year, Sadhvi Prem Baisa came under public scrutiny after a video featuring her with her father went viral. According to her, the clip showed a father-daughter embrace but was misrepresented and labelled obscene by sections of social media.
Following the circulation of the video, the Sadhvi reportedly faced harassment and mental distress. She later filed a police complaint, stating that her relationship with her father was being deliberately defamed. At the time, she publicly declared that she was willing to undergo an ‘agnipariksha’ (trial by fire) to prove her innocence.

On Wednesday, at around 5:30 pm, Sadhvi Prem Baisa was taken to Preksha Hospital on Pal Road in Jodhpur by her father and another individual. According to hospital supervisor Dr Praveen Jain, she was brought in dead.
The hospital informed Shastri Nagar police station and advised the family to shift the body to Mathura Das Mathur (MDM) Hospital. However, instead of doing so, the family reportedly took the body to their ashram in Boranada.

After receiving information, a sub-inspector from Boranada police station reached the ashram, sealed the Sadhvi’s room, and later sent the body to MDM Hospital. ACP Chhavi Sharma confirmed that an investigation is underway, stating that the Sadhvi had already passed away when brought to the private hospital.
As news spread, a large crowd gathered at the ashram late at night. Nagaur MP Hanuman Beniwal has demanded that the Chief Minister take the matter seriously, adding political weight to the case.

One of the most unsettling aspects of the case is that a post appeared on Sadhvi Prem Baisa’s Instagram account around 9:30 pm, nearly four hours after her reported death.
The post read, “I did not get justice while I was alive, at least after my going, I will get justice.” It also reiterated her devotion to Sanatan Dharma and mentioned letters she had written to revered saints seeking a trial by fire. The timing of the post has intensified speculation and raised further questions for investigators.
