Disney+ Hotstar dropped the trailer of ‘The Trial - Pyaar, Kaanoon, Dhokha’ on June 12, 2023, and Kajol’s fans are impressed with her playing the lead in this Indian adaptation of ‘The Good Wife’. The courtroom drama is one of the most popular American series starring Julianna Margulies, Archie Panjabi, Matt Czuchry, and other renowned names in Hollywood.
Seeing Kajol as a lawyer took the internet by storm. A user commented on Instagram, “Kajol slayed in every role. Can’t wait for this one.” Another fan pointed out, “Girl, what an incredible actress you are!!!”

‘The Good Wife’ is set in Chicago in which Alicia Florrick is the character around whom the entire series revolves. Her husband was a lawyer, who was put behind the bars for indulging in corruption and a scandal.
Florrick had been a stay-at-home mother for years but had to step back into the shoes of a lawyer after her husband got arrested. She becomes a litigator to take care of her kids. ‘The Trial’ seems to be running on a parallel track with season one. Only the characters and their names have been adapted to suit the Indian audience.
Seven Seasons Of ‘The Good Wife’
‘The Good Wife’ has seven seasons. The first one aired in 2010, and the last aired in 2015. The series was appreciated by critics and the audience. The New York Times said that the series stood out among the new fall shows.
The Chicago Tribune said that the best part of the series was Florrick navigating the complex relationship with her husband, who was later revealed to be a pawn in a greater political game.

‘The Good Wife’ became so popular across continents that it had seven remakes so far. It was remade in South Korea, China, Russia, Vietnam, Ireland, Japan, and now in India. It is the first US drama that was ever adapted in Korea (Korean Dramas Releasing In June 2023) and marked the return of Jeon Do-yeon to the television screen after a decade.
‘The Good Wife’ Controversies
Much like any other drama, there was a plotline rumoured to be unfolding between the leads Margulies and Panjabi. After the fourth season, fans noticed that they did not appear in any scene together, and hence, the rumours were rife that the two actors did not get along and were shooting their scenes separately.
