The internet sensation took this step after her family strongly opposed her relationship and even pressured her to marry someone else. The couple’s decision to marry in Kerala drew attention nationwide for its emotional and legal aspects. According to media reports, Monalisa met Farman Khan on Facebook, leading to a relationship of around 1.5 years.

Monalisa Bhosle first became known to many when a video of her selling rudraksha beads and garlands at the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 in Prayagraj went viral online. Her beautiful eyes and warm smile caught the imagination of social media users, earning her the affectionate nickname ‘Monalisa’.

Since gaining fame, she has been linked with opportunities in films and modelling, including work on a Malayalam movie called ‘Nagamma’ she was shooting in Kerala. Her sudden rise from a garland seller to a national figure has been widely covered in the press.

Farman, now Monalisa’s husband, is reportedly an actor and model from Maharashtra. The couple first met through social media and film work, and their bond developed over time. After dating for several months, they chose to get married, despite strong opposition from Monalisa’s family. 

The wedding took place at the Sri Nainar Deva Temple in Arumanoor, near Poovar in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Many local leaders and political figures reportedly attended the ceremony.

Monalisa Seeked Police Protection Before Marriage

Monalisa's father reportedly tried to locate her on the sets of her debut Malayalam movie ‘Nagamma’ in Poovar and attempted to take her back home against her will.

Before their wedding, Monalisa and Farman approached the Thampanoor Police Station in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, seeking protection. Monalisa told police that her father was trying to force her to return home and marry another man chosen by her family. With police permission and community support, and members of a film crew (with whom she was working), the couple headed to the temple to get married.

In an interview with The Indian Express, Thampanoor Station House Officer (SHO) Jijukumar said, “She (Monalisa) said her family wanted to marry her off to a distant relative. She was against that. The crew of the film she is working on also came to the station with her. As she is 18, we allowed her to go with Farman. Her father, who also came to the police station, was sent back.”

Police verified that Monalisa is a legal adult with the right to choose her partner. After clarifying the situation with her father, officers confirmed that no legal action was necessary and that she was free to live with and marry Farman.
